Saning has successfully participated in the award-winning interdisciplinary European research project 7. The framework Program with the acronym HEROMAT, which brings together a group of 10 partners from 5 countries; Slovenia, Serbia, Italy, Great Britain and Russia.
The main goal of the HEROMAT project is the synthesis of innovative, advanced and multifunctional protective materials, with increased ability of hardening, self-cleaing and microbial resistance, to protect various inorganic mineral surfaces in the field of cultural heritage.
The application of new advanced materials will help to improve the condition of cultural and historical buildings and contribute to their long-term resislience to the environmental influences.
Within the research and development activities, Saning is in charge of establishing the production and application of the newly developed materials at two reference historical facilities in Slovenia (the Dornava mansion) and Serbia (The Bač fortress).
The result of the development are new materials for hardening and protection of construction materials:
- The hardener is specially adjusted for hardening carbonate bases (lime plasters, coatings, lime mortars, etc.)
- The hardener is specially adjusted for hardening silicate bases (concrete, bricks, mortars, sandstones, etc.)
- TiO2-based self-cleaning protective coating
- Firming, self-cleaning and protection system
